FISHING
Here in Derbyshire, you'll have the opportunity to enjoy some excellent fishing. If you're looking for regular coarse fishing then you don’t need to look much further than the Derwent or Wye rivers. The Derwent runs through the heart of Matlock town and is therefore sitting right on the doorstep of Rockside Hall. Here you'll find quality roach, chub, perch, grayling and even a few trout.

If it’s game fishing that really gets you excited then we have two large still waters that must be amongst the best in the country for scenery, value for money and the quality of fishing.

Derwent Reservoir has to be the jewel in the crown and is the only water in the UK that offers the chance to fish for true brown trout on a day ticket. It's stated that the reservoir hasn't been stocked since it was built so to catch a true wild brownie you’ll need to be good... but while you're waiting the scenery is magnificent!

The other large water is Carsington. This 741 acre reservoir was built around 10 years ago and holds some fantastic brown trout.  Each season, more and more rainbow trout are also being introduced. It’s a popular place to go for all types of water sport, but a real treasure for the anglers.

If the large waters aren't your choice then there are also lots of small still waters where the sport can be just as good.
