Rockside apartments are situated in Rockside Hall in the town of Matlock, which sits just on the edge of the Peak District National Park in Derbyshire.

Matlock town was originally a Spa town, and Rockside Hall was once a thriving Hydro, attracting wealthy upper class people who came to take in the fresh Derbyshire air and avail themselves of the hydropathic cures of the day in glorious surroundings.

Rockside is an elegant, Grade II listed building which sits high on the hillside of Matlock with fabulous views over the Derwent valley.  As 'Hatters Castle' it was a hospital for sick airmen during the World War II and then in October 1946, along with the nearby Chatsworth Hydro, Rockside opened as a teacher training college for women with just 100 students. It shed the women-only status 12 years later, and eventually expanded to accommodate around 400 students, finally closing it's doors as a college in 1988.

Rockside gives you easy access to several other attractions including Abrahams Heights, Gullivers Kingdom, Riber Castle, Alton Towers, and Chatsworth House.  Matlock is a vibrant rural town with plenty of shops and interesting places to eat out.
